The story behind Smarth.
Two decades. Four continents. One person who never had a job title that fully covered what he actually did.
Started early. Never stopped.
Adam Echo started building and managing servers at 11. By 15 he was working his first job and running a 50-server datacenter facility on the side, handling networking, power, and hardware.
No formal degree. Full-time employment since 15. Everything since has been earned in the field.
Twenty years across every seat at the table.
The career that followed covered a lot of ground. Private jet charter sales, VOIP infrastructure, e-commerce platforms, telecom redesigns, and eventually running both the marketing and technology functions of companies at the same time.
He co-launched one of the first successful e-commerce platforms in its market, then co-founded a VOIP startup alongside it, securing $660K in investment and scaling it to self-sufficiency. At a global charter company, he led 15 engineers, managed 500+ keywords generating the equivalent of $24.5K per month in organic search value, and grew sales 400% year over year.
At a digital media company, he was hired as a marketing manager and ended up running the entire technology operation as interim CTO by year two, both roles at once, while cutting ad spend-on-revenue by a factor of 30.
Then came iconiK, the project that tested everything simultaneously. Adam built the entire business: brand identity, website, mobile app, experience portal, and e-commerce store. He designed the iKoins rewards currency, managed a $180K per year Meta advertising budget, and drove $27.2M in membership revenue above industry conversion benchmarks.
The common thread across all of it is that Adam has never been just the marketer or just the technologist. He has always been both.
Rochester, MN. A deliberate next step.
In 2025, Adam moved to Rochester, Minnesota to be closer to family. He had spent two decades building other people's businesses. It was time to build his own and, for the first time, put a name on the work he had been doing through contacts and referrals his entire career.
Smarth LLC is that name. The smart home side came first as a way to serve the local community. The consulting work followed quickly because it is what Adam has always done. The site is new. The experience is not.
Smarth is not a solo operation.
Our designer has been working alongside Adam since the early days of his agency career, a long-standing creative partnership with a portfolio that spans luxury brands, tech platforms, and local businesses. Video production brings in trusted directors of photography and crew depending on the project. Development work scales with vetted partners when the scope calls for it.
What you get is a coordinated team with real working history, not a freelancer with a contractor list.
What we stand for.
Transparency
Scope is defined upfront. Rates are published. If we can give you a number, we will. No vague proposals where a real answer exists.
Security and Privacy
From marketing campaigns to smart home systems, privacy is a real constraint in how we work. We do not use tools that compromise your users' data and we do not build systems that compromise yours.
Local Economy
Smarth is a Rochester business. We would rather work with Minnesota companies, meet in person, and keep value in the local economy. Remote and national work is available, but local is where we are focused.
